Our Mission

Our mission is to provide vocational education for the parents of impoverished children in an effort help them become self-sufficient which will enable them to provide an adequate quality of life for themselves and their families and to provide an education for their children. As they improve the quality of their lives, they become an example to others and can become a positive voice for progressive change in their communities.

About This Cause

“Help Kids Around The World” (HKATW)

10% of the net proceeds from our company are contributed to the organization “Help Kids Around The World” (HKATW) in Uganda. HKATW helps children, many who have lost their parents from HIV/AIDS or are victims of war or brutal tribal discrimination, to achieve a nominal quality of life (food, water and healthcare). These children now live under desperate conditions without governmental support. HKATW was created so these children would not be forgotten.

HKATW’s mission is to give them a sustainable, life-changing future by providing them the opportunity to learn a marketable skill and, as a result, become successful citizens in their society. By providing them with education, guidance and supervision, success at HKATW is measured by them obtaining self-sufficiency. Then, through self-sufficiency, the hope is they become a force for positive change in their communities and around the world.

Projects

Micro-Finance Program

A group of individuals carefully screened by local HKATW leadership are chosen to participate in one of many HKATW “micro-finance” programs.  The micro-finance approach these participants the financial support they need to implement a program of their own making to manufacture goods or provide services for others.

With the funds they earn, our hope is they will become increasingly self-sufficient, providing them with a better quality of life for themselves and the requisite financial support for the education of their children.

Vocational Education: Tailoring Center

Candidates are carefully screened by local HKATW leadership to be taught the skill of tailoring. Instructed by a master tailor in Katwe, they create clothes for the neighborhood while they learn. Immediately outside the tailoring school, on one of the main streets of Katwe, Uganda, they display their clothes for sale.
